The right painter, checked
Tell us what you're painting. We introduce you to independent Miami-Dade painters who are licensed and insured, and help you compare their estimates. You hire the painter directly.
What we check first
In Miami-Dade, painting is a licensed trade: a painter who contracts for work needs a county certificate of competency. We check that before anyone gets your number.
A county certificate
A current Miami-Dade certificate of competency for painting, looked up in the county's contractor search, not taken on trust.
Insurance on file
Certificates for general liability and workers' compensation, the same coverage the county requires to be certified.
A written estimate
Prep, product, coats and colors in writing, so you can compare painters on the same work instead of a single number.
Licensing rules: Miami-Dade Code §10-3 and the county's contractors and building trades pages, where anyone can search a contractor.
Read an estimate like a pro
Two quotes can differ by thousands because one skips the work you can't see. These are the lines worth checking.
- Prep, spelled outPressure washing, mildew treatment, crack patching, caulking. On stucco this is most of the job.
- Product by nameThe exact paint or coating, not "premium paint". Elastomeric and acrylic are not the same job.
- CoatsTwo coats is the norm, and elastomeric coatings call for two by the label.
- Colors and sheenEach color with its code, for body, trim, accent and doors.
- Who's on the jobThe licensed contractor's name and certificate number on the estimate.
